Minimum Requirements and Qualifications
To qualify for this exciting Assistant Director role, applicants must have:
- Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) or equivalent
- A recognised Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma (NQF Level 7) in Public Administration/Management or a relevant qualification
- At least three (3) years of experience at a supervisory level

Job Responsibilities and Core Duties
As the Assistant Director (Internal Support), you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient operation of the Defence Policy, Strategy, and Planning Division.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Planning and Coordination:

- Oversee the development and management of divisional planning processes.
- Ensure alignment with departmental objectives and national defence priorities.
- Human Resource Support:
-
- Provide expert advice on HR compliance and prescriptions.
- Support recruitment, PMDS (Performance Management Development System), and Employee Health and Wellness (EHW) programs.
- Financial Management:
-
- Coordinate with finance custodians to ensure compliance with PFMA and Treasury Regulations.
- Oversee resource allocation and budget monitoring.
- Records and Resource Management:
-
- Maintain accurate and secure record-keeping systems.
- Promote best practices in administrative resource management.
Security and Verification Process
Successful candidates will undergo comprehensive Personnel Suitability Checks, which include:
- Criminal record verification
- Citizenship and financial/asset record checks
- Qualification and employment verification
- Security clearance processes
Candidates may also be subjected to two pre-entry assessments (practical and ethical exercises) to determine suitability.
